This training will be led by Roger Orman who is a certified church security trainer through Cambridge University and a consultant for the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. In my opinion, if his church security plan had been in place in Texas, there would have been significantly fewer causalities. Please bring your security team and other interested members of your church.

The conference is planned by the GCBA in conjunction with the Pastor Leadership Development Dept. of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.
Michael Lee and Roger Orman will be the facilitators for this training event. There is some preparation work necessary for your deacons to be a part of this event. Each deacon will need to complete an online survey (cost is $5.00 each; typically costs around $25.00 per person) in advance of the event and bring the results with them on the day of the event.
To register for this event, direct your deacons to this link:
After registration, you will receive a link to the Leading With Your Strengths survey to be completed before you attend the training.
Each year The Mississippi Baptist Convention tries to provide ongoing resources to help churches in their disciple-making process. You are invited to join other leaders May 8-9, at GARAYWA Camp & Conference Center, Clinton, to experience a Prayer Boot Camp. Claude King, Prayer Coordinator for LifeWay Christian Resources, will be our leader for the two-day event beginning at noon on Tuesday and ending at noon on Wednesday
.In the following comments Claude shares information about the training:
What I will be doing is more like a "train the trainer" event. That may not be an accurate name, but people experience a Prayer Boot Camp and then have access to all the resources to go home and reproduce it in their church, association, state convention, etc. If a DOM and a pastor or another person were to attend the Prayer Boot Camp, they would realize "we can do this!" Ideally you would have some "teams" come out of the experience in May who would conduct PBCs in other regions and associations throughout the state.
I have a two-fold reason for inviting you to this encounter:
- Effective prayer is part of the disciple-making process and we want to give you a personal growth experience in prayer as well as a tool to lead your churches in a Prayer Boot Camp.

Throughout the New Testament, the church is compared to a “body,” where each part works in concert with the other (1 Cor. 12). As each member of the body performs their unique function, they accomplish larger goals as a whole…as a TEAM. “Group 2 Team” is an opportunity to take any ministry group (e.g. church staff, church council, deacon body, etc.) within your local church and help them to begin functioning as a healthy team! Dr. Reggie Ogea (professor and leadership expert from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary) will serve as our guide to making the most out of team-based ministry.
